Making the Most of Monday: Sewing Seeds
Can you believe that THIS Friday is the first day of Spring? I know, me either. I can almost taste it! This past week, I was driving along on my way home from the grocer and remembered my local farmers market. Do you have one of those where you are? I can't tell you how much I miss the fresh veggies and fruit that the market brings. I can hardly wait. Stay tuned this week, I have a super fabulous giveaway coming to help with spring cleaning!
This week's Making the Most of Monday post is on the heavy side, but sometimes heavy is what we are feeling and I think we are all feeling a little heavy these days.
I would like to encourage you to sew "seeds", I'm not talking about literal seeds, I'm talking about seeds of good things. I can't tell you how much it pains me to watch the news. I literally have a hard time even turning on the TV. There is so much bad going on and so many people hurting. Crimes of the unthinkable are happening more and more all over, and it doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon. People are hurting, feeling lifeless and feeling let down. People need compassion, kindness of strangers, they need direction and they need help. They need someone to listen rather than offer an opinion, they need change.
Vintage Indie is here to promote Modern Life, Vintage Perspective and as crazy as this may sound Vintage Perspective isn't just about antiques and vintage goods, but if you look a little deeper it can also mean the perspective of our founding fathers. The values that were laid before us. I love what I do here, supporting independent businesses, work at home parents, people who are doing what they do to make the best life that they can for their family. The rest are the small joys in life, they are the things that make us happy. We enjoy scouring the antique shelves for our next "lucky" find. We enjoy the fabric of a torn apron that sparks our imagination of a kitchen it once lived. We enjoy these things because we are free to.
I'm not endorsing FoxNews or Glen Beck in any way, but if you haven't seen the 9.12 Project from Glen Beck, I encourage you to check it out and see what you think.
In the meantime think about sewing a "seed" this week in someones life, you never know if your act of kindness may save a life, heal a heart or offer hope.
Much love,
Gabreial
Great post Gabreial. The best I’ve read anywhere for a long time. So true, it’s time to get back to vintage values and sew some seeds. I watched GB last Friday and cried like a baby. WE need to pull ourselves “up by our boot straps” and move forward!
Love, LuAnn
Thanks so much LuAnn. I have to admit I was having a hard time pushing the publish button this morning. I appreciate you letting me know how you felt. I want Vintage Indie to remain as an escape for people, who enjoy vintage but at the same time, I don’t want to be insensitive to everything else in this life.
this is a wonderful post. i think too that if each of us does a small kind deed, it creates a
ripple effect. good karma, always!
I know that I’m late getting into this discussion, but I have a couple of comments and then a question: First, I want to thank you for stepping out and stating the obvious (IMHO!) that “old fashioned” values are why we are free to pursue our dreams. I’m very grateful that we live HERE where we have those opportunities. Secondly, remember that you are not alone in your pursuit of a “vintage perspective” for your life. There are lots of us! Finally, now that I’ve found your website, I would like to know how to get involved . . . . is this Monday post a meme where other vintage bloggers could link to this blog and connect lots of us together every Monday? Please let me know if there is a way to become more involved! Thanks, Nina @ Gossamer Wings Studio
Good morning Nina,
Thank you for your comments, I’m glad I’m not the only one with the “vintage perspective”, the more of us there are the better!
Yes, this is a meme every Monday, you can link through the comments, usually I have the Mr. Linky up but it was giving me some problems so I took it off. There are some past Making the Most of Monday archives up top if you’d like to visit them. Welcome to Vintage Indie!
