Insipring Ideas – Organizing with Vintage – Barb McMahon

One of my favourite pieces of organizing advice is to "store
things as close as possible to where you're going to use them".  It's a
perfect solution for us lazy types…

We have a sofa-bed in our living room that we use for overnight
guests.  This old military trunk makes a great coffee table and all the
guest bedding fits right inside (can't get much closer than that!).

Vintage kitchenware works great for storage in other rooms of the
house.  This old yellow bread box sits on my hall table and keeps
winter hats and mittens tidy.

I found these cool rooster canisters at my local Habitat ReStore a
few weeks ago.  I had no real use for them in my kitchen, but they're
so cool!  Fortunately, my husband was with me.  "Office supplies?"  he
suggested (this is why I love him so…).

I've actually got sewing supplies hidden away in one of them.  And
this short one keeping Mr. Kafka in line is also storing part of my
out-of-control collection of buttons (double-duty pieces are
organizational gold!).
