Wedding Tales – Lindsay & Nate
Vintage Indie – How did you meet?
We were introduced by my (Lindsay's) cousin on a snowboarding trip in
Tahoe, but didn't begin dating until about ten years later! We were in
and out of each other's lives, but became re-acquainted through tattooing.
Inkslinger's Ball, an annual tattoo convention held in Hollywood,
California, is where Nate finally told me of his feelings. Apparently he
had been consistently dropping hints every time he would tattoo me, but
trying to remain professional, they were very subtle, and I was simply
not getting it!
Vintage Indie – What did you do to make your
wedding "green" or "eco-friendly"?
We handmade our
save-the-dates and invitations, and in doing so, we acquired lots of squares of
"scrap" paper. We pasted pictures of us on these multi-colored square
scraps, and used them as the centerpieces at the cocktail tables. It was a
great conversation starter and added an extra personal touch to the
tables.
Vintage Indie – What was your favorite wedding detail?
My favorite detail
was the watercolor my husband made for our invitations. I ended up using
it to make programs as well, because I wanted to carry it throughout the
entire wedding event. I was also very honored to wear my husband's great grandmother’s
garters, aged 100 years. They are embroidered with the French words:
"La beaute me sedvit" (beauty seduces me) and "La vertus
matache" (virtue touches me).
Vintage Indie – Any vendor recommendations?
Melissa Schwartz; Organic Photographs. We have so many amazing engagement and
wedding photos. She was so much fun to work with, even though I feel like I did
not see her at all at the wedding. She got so many wonderful candid moments, I
was wondering where she was popping out of to capture them!
Tim
Altbaum, our DJ, was absolutely amazing as well. He provided excellent music
tailored exactly to our tastes.
