Vintage Indie Life – Sharing is Caring – How do you do your holidays?
I've just come from Starr Strung Jewelry artist Starr Keller's blog. She is also the wonderful new team lead for the Vintage Pulse Resource Center. Anyway, found this fun survey. Feel free to play along and come back here to post your comment with a link to it!
(this is not my tree or my house in case you were wondering)
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Mostly Wrapping Paper. Gift bags aren't as much fun for me.
2. Real tree or Artificial? A real tree, sometimes one with a bulb. Others are sunk to the lake for homes for the fish.
3. When do you put up your tree? Usually the 2nd weekend in December.
4. When do you take the tree down? As soon as possible. When it's over it's over.
5. Do you like eggnog? Yes, in very small doses.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Hmm, I would say our best year as kids was when we got a Super Nintendo. We were the LAST kids to get one. It's old school now isn't it?
7. Hardest person to buy for? I would have to say my parents. I don't know why, but I always struggle with them.
8. Easiest person to buy for? My sister, she's young always needs stuff for her place.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? No, and it is terrible. We haven't found one we liked. I need a good one.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I gave those up a couple of years ago. Bad, I know..
11.Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Hrm, well hopefully not to hurt anyone's feelings here (a family member to be exact) but these earrings, that took everything within me not to laugh. I thought they were a gag gift… seriously.. there was no joking.. and they were not laughing.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? National
Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, seriously I have to go with Starr on this one. The first time I saw it as a kid I laughed until I cried.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I try to start in August, or collect things all year. This year, not so much.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Actually yes, once… is that bad?
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My son and I will be making our famous Banana Nut Bread for the 5th year in a row. Love it, love hay stacks & no bake cookies.
16. Lights on the tree? Yes, but only white ones.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Oh Holy Night
18.Travel at Christmas or stay home? Maybe one day I'll get to stay home in my jammies all day. That's my Christmas wish, but until then.. travel, and then more travel (local though)
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Uh, no.
20. Angel on the treetop or a star? A Star!
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning with our kids. Grandparents usually varies.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? well, the disturbing stories of smashed persons at Wal-Marts bother me. I had to leave Starr's answer up here, yes those are just wrong, wrong, wrong people. Other than that the term X-Mas. It drives me crazy!
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? This year will be a whole new tree. I'm letting go of ornaments from our past, keeping the kids treasured ones and vintage-ing it up this year. Well, with the new Vintage Map wall color and all I had to change some things. I can't wait!
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? We have a very laid back Christmas feast with sandwiches, appetizers and finger foods. I love it!
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Peace.
I thought this was a cute survey and quite fun too.
