Vintage Fashion Forward Product Review: Alima Pure: Vintage Bouquet Mineral Makeup
Today I'm excited to be talking about Alima Pure's newest collection Vintage Bouquet. Honeysuckle, Foxglove and Forget-Me-Not eye shadows and Snapdragon matte blush which make up this gift worthy collection.
About six years ago I made the switch to mineral makeup and haven't turned back since. They key for me is finding good quality mineral makeup. Makeup that won't break out my skin and makeup that is safe. I'm thrilled with Alima Pure and I absolutely loved this new collection.
Alima Pure is concerned about what we put on our skin and they've created a fabulous Mineral Makeup 101 section of their website to keep you informed on the ins and outs of mineral makeup today. My favorite link, their Cosmetic Safety. See below.
" Do you know about the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database? We are full participants (providing detailed ingredient information for every product we sell) and we think it's a great project. Keep in mind that only a small set of ingredients have been adequately studied to understand all possible types of risks so most products still have a huge data gap (the data gap is shown right beneath the score for a product) and some people complain the database makes everything scary by treating ingredients as "guilty until proven innocent".
While the jury is out on some ingredients, others are known toxins. Here are our Top 10 to Avoid. Please note they are listed in alphabetical order (not by noxiousness).
BHA – toxic to the liver, immune and reproductive systems; possible carcinogen.
BHT – toxic to the brain, nervous and respiratory systems; possible carcinogen; endocrine disruptor.
D & C Colorants (Lakes) – toxic to the nervous and reproductive systems.
Eugenol – toxic to the immune and nervous systems; endocrine disruptor.
Formaldehyde – toxic to the immune and respiratory systems; carcinogen.
Nitrosamines – endocrine disruptor; possible carcinogen.
P-Phenylenediamine – toxic to the immune, respiratory and nervous systems.
Parabens – endocrine disruptor; neurotoxin; possible carcinogen.
Phthalates – toxic to the immune, nervous and reproductive systems.
Triethanolamine – toxic to the immune and respiratory systems; possible carcinogen.
We've created a little "Pocket Toxicologist" you can download and print as a handy reference.

Next on my review, was Alima Pure's Organic Nourising Lipbalm. I have to say I absolutely love this product. Not only does it go on smooth, it provides color and moisture to dry cracked lips. Acai and Sugar Plum were apart of my review and I really love both of them Acai is a little lighter pink with just the perfect amount of shimmer for this momma.
If you haven't had a chance to check out Almia Pure before, now is a great time to head over and view everything they offer. I belive this collectoin would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift. Their customer service is top notch and will help to ensure you pick out the proper foundation color for your skin type and get you on your way to healthier makeup in no time.
Thanks so much to Alima Pure for providing their Vintage Bouquet collection, foundations and lipbalms for this review.
