Indie Designer Profile: Interview with Lynn of Hair Bows Wonderworld
Good morning everyone! I'm sorry posts have been light! We're in the process of selling our home and a whirlwind of things has made some pretty quick changes in our life.
Today, I would like to welcome you to our first Indie Designer Profile for 2010. I don't know about you, but when I'm able to talk to the creator themselves it helps me connect them to their work. It makes me feel like I have a special product in hand and not just some massed produced trinket. Please help me in welcoming Lynn, owner of Hair Bows Wonderworld.
What does it mean to you to be an independent designer?
It means everything to me 🙂 Being a mother of three children under
5, it means I can work at home in the hours of my choice. My life
has two different sides. During the day, it's an ordinary life of a
housewife (not that I don't love every single minute of it – I do!)
taking care of the kids and the family, during the night (after the
kids go to bed), it's my own world for being creative and let the
imagination go wild.
Can you tell us what inspires your designs?
Life, materials, my customers. In fact I think everything around me is
inspiring. I never run out of ideas. Sadly, I've never had enough
time to really experiment all of what comes into my mind and bring those
visions to life.
I like to try new materials and explore their limits
and their full extents. I love vintage. I love to look at those old
time jewelery and costumes, while trying to imagine the fragrance of the passed
time with its own beauty and grace. I start to wonder how to bring
them to our modern life make them fit and make them glow.
I love
doing custom orders. Talking to my brides and working with them to fulfill their wishes always bring new ideas.
Uniqueness and attention to details. The spontaneity element makes every single creation a piece of art, not commercial.
Can you tell us what your most popular item is and what you think is popular this wedding season?
. It was a hit. Orders for them are still coming but this year I think
it'd probably be my signature fabric/silk rolled roses (pictured as a necklace below) which I make
and use in bouquets, necklaces and other accessories too.
Thank you so much Lynn for sharing a little more insight to your beautiful work. To purchase any of the items pictured above or for your own custom designs visit Lynn at Hair Bows Wonderworld.
